Pirkey Barber is pleased to welcome Alicia Morris Groos, who brings to our team extensive experience helping prominent companies and household-name brands manage and protect their intellectual property portfolios nationally and internationally. Her clients include major pharmaceutical and medical device manufacturers, retailers, and food and beverage companies. Alicia joins us as a member.
Alicia is widely recognized as a leading practitioner in U.S. trademark and copyright law, with consistent placement across the WTR 1000, Legal 500 U.S., Best Lawyers, and other legal rankings. Her practice includes trademark, copyright and false advertising enforcement and litigation; domain name disputes; counseling on selection and clearance of trademarks; and trademark opposition and cancellation proceedings in the United States and abroad. She also assists clients with trademark and copyright prosecution, counseling, and transactional matters such as licensing, assignments, coexistence agreements, and consents.

Alicia’s international experience includes negotiating a trademark and trade dress license agreement with a major international beverage alcohol manufacturer for a custom branded whiskey, representing an international retailer in multinational trademark and trade dress litigation involving a foreign competitor, and representing a foreign government agency in proceedings before the World Intellectual Property Organization.
Alicia is a Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation, and Best Lawyers named her Lawyer of the Year for Trademark Law in 2020. She is a frequent author and presenter on intellectual property topics for the International Trademark Association (INTA), the Intellectual Property Owners Association (IPO), and other organizations.
A proud Austin resident, Alicia earned her J.D., with honors, from The University of Texas School of Law, where she was a member of the Texas International Law Journal. Her B.A. also is from The University of Texas.
