The Rebekah Baines Johnson Center is an independent living facility that has served low-income seniors and people with disabilities in Austin, TX for over 40 years. Their mission is to provide housing and services to meet the physical, social and psychological needs of its residents through affordable housing, along with resources and a supportive community.
We collected donations in the office for over six weeks and were able to provide three truckloads full of groceries, paper goods, and toiletries to serve over 100 residents. The RBJ Center allowed us to set up a temporary on-site store for an afternoon and we assisted residents as they selected items they needed and delivered things to their apartment units. It was a rewarding opportunity to interact with the residents and support the community.
